ScrapPage - Frequently Asked Questions
* Can I build and save my layouts as JPG files?
Yes, ScrapPage allows you to save your files as either standard JPG or PNG files.
* Can I use my layouts for printing photobooks?
Yes, there are project sizes for 12" X 12" printing as well as the other standard page formats of Snapfish and Shutterfly. If these do not fit your needs, when begininng a project you can always specify the exact pixel dimensions your book publisher requires.
* Must I have a web host to share my action pages?
Yes and No. If you wish to share your pages with a friend via email, you can zip the HTML page and the support folder (i.e., .html and the folder titled Files) together and email it to them directly. The recipient could then unzip the file and open them directly on their computer's browser. There would be no need to upload to a server. HOWEVER, there are limitations to doing this. Apple's mobile products do not have a simple method for unzipping files and making the unzipped content available for viewing. I can be done, but it does require a knowledge of how to do it on the part of your recipients. There are, however, 3rd Party apps that make the extracting and viewing of these pages much easier. The Documents app by Readdle handles the unzipping with a single click and the page becomes immediately viewable. But, it does require that your viewers have downloaded and installed Documents or some other file management app on their phone/pad. So, a direct email approach is not the ideal approach for those viewers who would be using an iPhone or an iPad, though it can be made to work. To be safe, upload your stuff to a web server and provide a link. Then everyone can view it. Additionally, you will be able to share your work on social media once it is uploaded to a host server.
* I don't have a web host. What do I do?
There are a number of sites that will give you free web hosting service, with certain limitations. A few that we have tried and found to work are:
000WebHost
InfinityFree
ByetHost
If you Google these, you can set up a free account and host your pages with them. These and other webhosts must be able to support FTP uploads. If you are planning to be able to upload from within ScrapPage, you will need to get the FTP Host Name, your assigned User Name, and your FTP Password. Don't be intimidated by this. The process of getting these is not that complicated. Once in hand. open ScrapPage and go to "Media -> Configure Web Server" and enter them in the form. After that, you will be able to upload your pages directly from within ScrapPage. If you perfer, you can also upload your pages using an FTP client app such as FileZilla.
