He Loved Football

Though he loved sports in general, football was probably the sport dearest to his heart. After a stellar high school career, he was recruited to play at Notre Dame. An unfortuante preseason injury sidelined him and he chose to leave Notre Dame and play for the University of Cincinnati where he was a star running back for his college career.

He was called to the tryout camp for the Cleveland Browns but declined. Players didn't make millions of dollars in those years and at 165 pounds, we thought he would get crushed in the professional game.
